Our

Vision

Vision

We define vision as the mental image of what "could be" fueled by the conviction that it "should be!" A vision is the preferred future that we are all committed to create. It is the ultimate destination of where we are headed and most importantly, who we are to become as a church. At LifeBridge Tyler, our vision is…

"To create a life-changing culture through fully devoted followers of

Christ!"

Why LifeBridge-Tyler?

We are driven by the tragedy that people far from God wake up every day without a meaningful purpose or an eternal hope. Our hearts break for people who unknowingly struggle with the reality that life without God just doesn't make sense. We believe that every person is seeking a life of significance, meaning and purpose. Every person is reaching for answers to life's three most important questions: Why am I alive? Does my life matter? What is my purpose? Discovering the answers to these questions is the key to finding purpose for today and hope for tomorrow.

Every day over 100,000 people travel the streets of Tyler. People are working on their jobs to provide for their families; students are going to school to prepare for their future; families are attending baseball and football games and going to the movies. The tragedy is that thousands of people are not living life with a meaningful purpose for today and an eternal hope for tomorrow.

The reality is that in spite of all the wonderful churches in Tyler, tens of thousands of people do not attend church! LifeBridge-Tyler is here for that family member, friend or neighbor that is resisting church for whatever reason. We believe that the local church who proclaims and lives out the life-giving message of Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. We know that there are many great churches in Tyler and the last thing we need is another church for the sake of having church.

The theological underpinning of our vision comes from two passages of Scripture.

Ephesians 2:11-13 (NLT)
"Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders…In those days you were living apart from Christ...you lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him by the blood of Christ" (Ephesians 2:11-13).

We love the first line of that verse; "Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders..." It reminds us to do this: "To live with the lost in mind." We live by the reality that if we ever forget what it was like to live in this world without God and without hope, we will lose the passion to reach those who are far from God. That can never happen.

Ephesians 4:11-16 (NLT)
11  Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
12  Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
13  This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
14  Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.
15  Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
16  He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

What we have discovered is that Tyler doesn't just need another church. We believe Tyler needs a different kind of church - a church that is a life-changing community where people far from God can discover the life-giving message of Jesus Christ and find purpose and meaning in life. We see a community of change coming to our city through people who are fully devoted followers of Christ.

What Sets Us Apart?

We see church as a community of friends coming together in environments that are enjoyable, inspiring, and full of life as we grow together to become all that God intended for our lives. We imagine an environment where shared vision, values, attitudes and practices result in changed lives for insiders and influence with outsiders!

This is what we see:

We see a culture where lives are transformed by the good news of Jesus Christ.

We see a culture where the hurting find physical, spiritual and emotional healing.

We see a culture where families reverse generational patterns of divorce, alcoholism, drug addiction and abuse.

We see a culture where teenagers choose purity over pregnancy, respect over rebellion, and leadership over

lethargy.

We see a culture where fathers and mothers take responsibility for their children.

We see a culture where people live in community together, not lost and alone.

We see a culture where leaders lead by example not demands, humility not pride, and moral standards not public

image.

We see a culture where the Bible is the #1 influence in people’s lives and moral relativism a thing of the past.

We see a culture where participation in God’s family is an imperative and not an option.

We see a culture where people of all races are united to make a difference, not divided to make war.

We see a culture where the Church stands against injustice and abuse toward the most vulnerable among us.

We see a culture where wounded Christians are healed and restored to ministry.

We see a culture where faithful followers of Jesus are sweeping the city, nation and the world through church

planting and revitalization!

We see a church creating a life-changing culture through fully devoted followers of Christ.
