We define mission as the reason we exist. Whereas the vision is our preferred future that we are committed to creating, our mission is the mandate that we are commissioned to carry out as a church. It is the ultimate purpose that serves as a filter for everything we do. At LifeBridge Tyler, our mission is…
"To lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ; by helping them CONNECT with God and others, GROW as disciples, and SERVE the Kingdom!"
We are passionate about bridging the gap between where people are and God's best for their lives. Finding God's best for our lives and reaching our fullest potential is not necessarily about changing the world. However, it is about making our world, our family, and our lives better. Wouldn't you agree that all of us want to be the best father, mother, husband, wife, business owner, employee, friend and neighbor that we can possibly be?
The life-giving message of Jesus Christ is the answer to all of life's deepest questions and the key to unlocking our greatest potential.
The gap between where we are and God's best for our lives is where growth takes place. This gap is the area where we reach for all that God has intended for our lives (discipleship). God's best for our lives is to become like Christ and to fulfill our purpose here on earth.
Our mission is found in two primary passages of Scripture.
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Emphasis added)
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NLT)
11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. (Emphasis added).
Our mission is carried out in the four primary things that we do:
